How to Turn Your Wiki into a Semi-Structured Knowledge Repository

The unstructured nature of wikis allows for easy content entry by anyone in the organization. However, it also means that users may enter information inconsistently, pages may become out of date quickly, data entry is prone to error, information can be hard to find, and finally it’s extremely hard to integrate the wiki with other applications and tools. Particularly as the wiki’s content grows, its unstructured nature inherently means the wiki frequently fails in becoming a knowledge repository. In this 2-day course you will learn how to guarantee the success of your wiki as an organization-wide knowledge repository.

Day 1

  • Standard Wiki best practices: Identify a pilot project, wiki champion(s), and business domain(s)
  • Enterprise wiki characteristics and inherent challenges of wikis
  • Introduction to Wikidsmart
    • Architecture
    • How Wikidsmart enables semi-structured knowledge management
    • Sample use cases

Day 2: Workshop

  • Applying Wikidsmart to a specific knowledge domain (eg, healthcare, financial, archives of artifacts, etc.)
  • Implementing Wikidsmart examples
    • Find precise information instantly
    • Provide a semi-structured wiki solution for a particular domain to enable
    • Easy, consistent form-based content entry
    • Automated wiki page maintenance
    • Integrate information from other applications and tools

In this 2 day course, you will learn how manage Requirements and Test Cases in a wiki, seamlessly integrated to an Issue Tracker for managing Tasks, Issues, Bugs, and Projects.

Day 1

  • Introduction to zAgile Teamwork for collaborative development with a customizable, extensible wiki application
    • Requirements
    • Test Cases

  • Issue tracker, tightly integrated with the wiki
    • Projects Tasks
    • Issues / Bugs
